Teenagers May Have Difficulty Quitting Vaping

One vaping cartridge delivers the nicotine equivalent of an entire pack of cigarettes and teenagers vape all day thinking that it is safe

Friday, October 18, 2019 - Juul Vape Inc. has announced that it will suspend sales of flavored vape cartridges pending scientific review of the product's alleged health hazards. The news comes as no surprise as the company is under pressure and some major US cities like San Francisco and the states of New York and Michigan have banned vaping outright. The Trump administration is considering a nation-wide suspension of Vape sales until more is known about the wildly popular cigarette alternative.

Vaping has reached epidemic proportions in the United States where "... 25% of high school seniors surveyed in the U.S. say they've vaped within the last 30 days," according to NPR.com. Other reports blame Juul and its largest shareholder Phillip Morris Tobacco, for igniting the under-age vaping craze with sophisticated social marketing targeted at social media influencers and paying them a commission for every vape product sold. JUUL Vape pen lawsuits are handled by top national attorneys and offer a free no obligation consultation before filing a claim.

A new study shows that vaping delivers more nicotine per puff than even the strongest traditional cigarette and people who have taken up the vaping habit may find it more difficult to quit. In the meantime, thousands of adults and minors around the country have been admitted to hospital emergency rooms and many have died from vaping. Juul's announcement will probably have little effect on the vaping epidemic that is currently engulfing America's middle school and high school youngsters who will have no trouble finding the vaping flavor they crave on the black market. Vaping is popular among underage school children as it has been marketed to them as safe and also because they can easily conceal the vape pen and "vape all day." This overuse of vaping has caused many to develop permanent lung damage from a condition called "popcorn lung" and over 25 young adults have died. Thousands are reporting to emergency rooms around the country with chest pain and being unable to breathe. Popcorn lung is a serious condition where the delicate lining of the lungs becomes burned and scarred by hot vapor, permanently rendering the lungs inelastic and making breathing difficult.

An article in the Times titled: "The Mysterious Vaping Illness That's Becoming an Epidemic - A surge of severe lung ailments has baffled doctors and public health experts," picked up on how new and confusing vape-related lung illnesses can be. Doctors are beginning, however, to get a handle on what vaping is and the cause of the vaping illnesses. Most now believe it the dangerous addition of THC to Vape flavor cartridges that is responsible for the outbreak of illnesses. Young teenagers being admitted to hospital emergency rooms are not forthcoming with the source of their problems but do report "severe shortness of breath, often after suffering for several days with vomiting, fever, and fatigue. Some have wound up in the intensive care unit or on a ventilator for weeks." according to The Times.

As of last night, the Center for Disease Control has had about 1500 cases of vape-related illness reported to them by hospitals and doctors. Because vaping is so new and few teenagers are willing to admit the cause of their lung illness, the number of vape-related illnesses could be ten to one hundred times as many when all states have reported and when the truth about what is being vaped is known.
