Teenagers Are Adding Dangerous Chemicals to Their Vape Pen Liquids

More teenagers are vaping, not to replace cigarettes smoking, but instead to delivery other dangerous recreational drugs

Friday, August 30, 2019 - Vaping was intended to be a way for nicotine-addicted adult cigarette smokers to wean themselves from the dangerous habit and replace it with a relatively clean and safer nicotine vapor. The CEO of Juul Inc., the leader in the Vape Pen Manufacturing, was interviewed by CBS the other day and was quick to take credit for the acceleration in the rate of decline in cigarette smoking Americans are achieving. CEO Kevin Burns told CBS This Morning that the goal of Juul is to "improve the lives of the world's one billion adult smokers by eliminating cigarettes." I found that an odd statement coming from a company, Juul Inc., whose majority stockholder is non-other than Phillip Morris, the world's leading manufacturer of cigarettes, the product they supposedly wish to eliminate. Burns also pointed out that vaping was less harmful than smoking cigarettes, the world's leading cause of lung cancer and death. It is hard to refute Burn's position given the double-digit record decline in cigarettes smoking since Juul came on to the market. Juul Vape lawsuits are handled by top national attorneys with vast experience handling recalled products and medical litigation's and offer a free consultation.

What CEO Burns failed to focus viewer attention on, however, was the increase in teenagers that "have taken up the vaping habit" having never before smoked cigarettes. Juul is being accused of actually targeting teenagers with their advertising and also by offering different flavors of vape liquid. The vaping mechanism is a perfect delivery system to add other recreational drugs. Vaping may be responsible for an increase in teenage drug abuse.

Dr. Nora Volkow of the National Institute on Drug Abuse has studied the effects vaping has had on teenage drug abuse. Dr. Volkow tells viewers that teenagers are naturally attracted to the new, sleek, cool-looking gadget, and teenagers become conditioned to using it. Teenagers are using vaping to deliver THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. THC is concentrated and added to vape liquid in much higher concentrations than one can get from smoking marijuana. When you add up the coolness of the new gadget, attractive flavoring, higher doses of nicotine, and the addition of other drugs like THC, it is hard to defend the Vape Pen being a more healthy alternative to cigarettes. Also, teenagers are getting ill from using Vape pens.

TechCrunch.com reports that "Nearly 200 cases of varying severeness have been reported nationwide, described by the CDC as "severe unexplained respiratory symptoms after reported vaping or e-cigarette use." and that one person has recently died from a vaping-related pulmonary illness. CNN reports that "14 young people in two states were hospitalized the other day after vaping, 11 in Wisconsin and 3 in Illinois, in addition to 8 cases of lung diseases related to vaping in July 2019. The teens reported severe breathing difficulty and were admitted to the intensive care unit and placed on ventilators." The Washington Post reported yesterday that over 300 cases of vaping-related illnesses from additives such as THC were reported in 29 states this month.
