School Districts Are Suing Juul For Getting Students Hooked On Nicotine

Juul Inc. is accused of wiping out decades of efforts to educate young adults of the dangers of nicotine addiction by advertising vaping directly to underage school children

Wednesday, January 15, 2020 - The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has banned the sale of all e-cigarette flavor cartridges effective immediately to lessen their availability to teenagers and underage young adults. The agency promises to take action to immediately enforce the ban and companies have 30 days to comply or regulatory action could be taken. It is unclear how the government plans to enforce the import of flavored vape cartridges, however, that are available at a teenager's fingertips via a smartphone giving underage vape users easy access to "e-juice" flavors like Peppermint, Coffee, Menthol, Lava Flow, Candy Crash, Blue Jazz, and Lemon Tart and hundreds more. The FDA is befuddled over how rapidly the vaping epidemic among youngsters developed and how to effectively respond to the millions that have and continue to become addicted to nicotine from vaping. According to CNBC News, Health and Human Services Secretary (HHS) Alex Azar told reporters, "The United States has never seen an epidemic of substance use arise as quickly as our current epidemic of youth use of e-cigarettes." Juul vape lawsuit attorneys represent families and individuals in the United States and offer a free consultation.

In conjunction with a government ban on e-juice flavors, the Trump Administration has also raised the legal age for smoking or vaping from 19 to 21 years of age. These measures and others that are sure to come will have little impact on teenage vaping habits as the horse has already left the gate regarding millions of American teenagers who are now hooked on nicotine from vaping. While vape cartridges deliver a prescribed level of nicotine approximately equivalent to a pack of cigarettes, chemicals have been added to vape cartridges deliberately to allow the user to inhale a much greater amount of nicotine from the very first puff without choking, gagging, or feeling lightheaded. As a result of this chemical additive vaping feels harmless and a new generation of "vapers" has emerged forcing Middle and High School teachers to the front lines to combat their student's vaping habits. Vape pens are easily disguised as a computer flash drive which can be concealed in the palm and "ripped" on, as high school kids like to put it, without detection in the classroom and other places in school throughout the day. School administrators are taking a proactive approach to safeguard their student's health by filing lawsuits against Juul. The other day, San Diego's public school schools filed suit against Juul Labs, Inc.alleging the company deliberately marketing its vaping products to middle and high school youngsters through social media platforms Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. Social media influencers were encouraged as Juul affiliates to use and promote the device and would receive commissions on the sales they sent via click throughs to the Juul websites. Hundreds of other companies that sold vape flavor cartridges and auxiliary vaping products. Interested parties are encouraged to seek the counsel of a Juul vaping attorney to see if they qualify to file a lawsuit against the nation's largest vape pen manufacturer.
