Illnesses From Using The Juul Vape Could Be In The Thousands
CNN and the Trump Administration may be on the same page for the first time with their efforts to stop the spread of vaping
Monday, September 16, 2019 - The Trump Administration in Washington DC has pledged to ban flavored e-cigarettes commonly known as vaping throughout the United States. The ban is in response to concerns that medical experts have to the alarming number of mysterious pulmonary (lung) illnesses that have been reported by hospitals where teenagers have been taken for emergency treatment after vaping. Vaping is linked to at least six deaths nationwide and the statistics are just now starting to be compiled. Fox News just reported, for example, that "The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Thursday stated the number of vaping-linked lung illness cases at 380 across 36 states." When all fifty states report vaping may be responsible for thousands of illnesses and hundreds of teenage deaths. And that does not take into consideration the thousands of 12, 13, and other teenagers that have become addicted to nicotine from vaping and will probably take up cigarette smoking to satisfy their cravings. In addition to the Trump flavored vape ban, other organizations are doing what they can to tamp down the demand for e-cigarettes by minors. JUUL vape pen dangers lawsuits are represented by top national attorneys and offer a free no obligation consultation to families and individuals harmed from the use of a JUUL vape pen.
CNN reports that the news agency will no longer run ads for Juul, the nation's leading manufacturer of vape pen products or other e-cigarettes because of the lung illnesses and deaths that have been linked to them. CNN also said that they would reverse this decision should an investigation prove that vaping is safe. The New York Times reports that flavored e-cigarettes makeup about 85% of Juul's sales and to ban them would effectively put the company out of business. Juul is fighting to keep mint and menthol flavors on the market as they most closely mimic the flavors of traditional cigarettes.
Juul has also been accused by the US Food and Drug Administration of illegally marketing their flavored vape pen pods to minors and touting them as "safer than traditional cigarettes." The FDA accusations serve as a warning to Juul and others not to undertake their planned multimillion-dollar ad campaign on TV and radio, and in print to add to their already extensive social media advertising.
The CDC and other medical experts are trying to pinpoint the exact cause of the outbreak of lung disease that is being attributed to vaping. Some say that vaping naturally causes "popcorn lung" the same condition caused by inhaling the dust from a recently cooked steaming hot bag of flavored microwave popcorn. The heat factor and other chemicals can damage the delicate elastic membrane of the lungs called the alveoli and cause scar tissue to develop much like mesothelioma, making breathing difficult and eventually impossible. Popcorn lung disease is irreversible an on par with lung cancer or emphysema in its ability to destroy the lungs. One doctor treating a teenager that was taken to the hospital emergency room said the boy's lungs looked like those of an 80-year old man.
